In this article I’ll walk you through how you can easily import and export your WordPress users. This is a great feature if you have a couple of sites that you are merging together and you want to combine the users from both of those sites. To get started go to your WordPress dashboard head over to plugins Add new.
We’ll be installing a plug-in today called the Cimy user manager
and we see that this is the one we want. So we’ll install now.
Once it’s installed we also need to activate it.
Now that it’s activated we’ll head over to Users, Cimy User Manager,
to export you want to scroll down to the bottom, this is where the file will be exported to.
By default it’s set up for comma delimited but you can change that here
and down here you can choose how you want it sorted. We’ll just keep the register date
and if you want to be able to open this in Microsoft Excel you want to select that there.
This bottom field is for a sister plugin that they have the Cimy User Extra Fields, you can select that there.
We will click export
and now it’s showing that it successfully exported three users. So we can download that choose an area to download it to
and then we’ll save it.
Now you just need to go to your new site, install the Cimy User Manager plugin again,
go to Users, Cimy User Manager
and this time we want to import the file,
Choose how it is set up, we want to create the users
and then you can decide, if you need to send an email notification
and we’ll click import
and then you get a status of how it was we successfully added two of them and modified one.
