Do you want to redirect users to random posts on your website? Well keep reading in this article I’ll walk you through how you can redirect users to a random post in WordPress.
This is a great way to increase user engagement on your website by showing them older posts that they may not have seen otherwise. To get started let’s head over to our WordPress dashboard. From there we want to go to Plugins, Add New because we’re going to install a plugin to do this.
In the search field look for redirect URL to post. This is the one we’re looking for so let’s click install now
and once it’s installed you’ll also want to make sure that you activate the plugin.
Once you install it it’s activated you’ll just need to copy this bit of shortcode
and add it to a page or a post. So for instance I’ll edit this area
and we can scroll all the way down or add the shortcode here
and we’ll update it
and once we update it we’ll see it in action. So now when I go to this post I’m reading through this item then I can click on random post
and some random posts will show up for me.
You can also set it up to show under a widget on your sidebar area. So let’s go to Widgets.
We want to grab the custom HTML widget. So I’m going to grab that
and let’s click, when I left click and drag this over then I will add the shortcode here, click Save
and now when a users on my site and reading through any of my posts then they can click on random posts to be redirected to a random article on my site.
